THE WHOLE WORLD AS 1000 PEOPLE (See explanation below)
If we could shrink the earth’s population to a village of precisely 1000 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would like this:
There would be:
- 584 Asians
- 95 Europeans
- 140 from North and South America
- 123 Africans
- 700 would be non-Christian, 300 would be Christian
- 330 would be children
- 60 would be over the age of 65
- 200 People would share 75% of the income, while another 200 would share only 2% of the income
- 50% of the adults would be unable to read
- 7% of the land would feed 73% of the people
- 28 babies would be born, 10 people would die every year
- There would be 7 teachers, 5 soldiers and 1 doctor
- When one considers our world from such a compressed perspective, the need for both acceptance and understanding becomes glaringly apparent.
