The bus had been traveling from neighboring Malawi to the Zambian capital of Lusaka Sunday when it flipped over and rolled into a ditch near the border town of Luangwa.

Police retrieved 33 bodies from the wreckage over the weekend.

A British tourist was among the dead and an Italian tourist was flown to South Africa for treatment, the police said.

Their identities were not immediately disclosed.

News reports quoted survivors as saying the 76-seater bus was carrying 87 passengers.
