Product Sponsorship Inquiry
Thank you for taking time to review this Product Sponsorship Inquiry. Adventure Learning Foundation is interested in building partnerships with our Sponsors in providing equipment and supplies to outfit our explorers and our expedition vehicle. Adventure Learning Foundation is based in Prescott, Arizona.
BACKGROUND
The mission of Adventure Learning Foundation (ALF) is to promote greater understanding of the world's different cultures by promoting global thinking and encouraging students to explore outside the traditional classroom.Adventure Learning Foundation conducts expeditions around North America and the world to introduce new people, cultures and places to teachers and students. These online adventure learning expeditions are journeys of discovery, exploration and mystery. They serve the dual purpose of adventurous learning and motivational tools while promoting a greater understanding of the people and cultures around the world.
- ALF has conducted eight expeditions since its inception in 2000. Expeditions are shared in the foundation's Virtual Classroom, an interactive on-line format, with classrooms around the US and in over 70 different countries. The virtual classroom address is www.QuestConnect.org.
- ALF was founded in February of 2000 as a tax exempt 501c3 educational organization.
- The Virtual Classroom averages over 200,000 page hits each month and receives more than 14,000 unique visitors monthly.
- During the Expeditions, students from across North America and in more than 70 countries participate and follow the explorers.
- ALF has received National Recognition from
- i) USA today as an "Educator’s best bet", one of only 150 internet sites nationwide to receive special recognition.
- ii) "Best Site" recognition from more than a dozen Education sites.
- ALF is funded by private donations, equipment manufacturer in-kind donations and donations of time by key staff and board members.
GOALSThe purpose and objectives of Adventure Learning Foundation are to:
- Promote a greater understanding of and between people of different cultures around the world.
- Create educational projects that show students they can help find solutions to global problems.
- Provide resources and training for teachers to maximize the benefits of the internet in their classroom.
- Foster interaction between teachers, students and families by providing compelling subject matter and interactivity in a web environment.
- Help students to develop sophisticated levels of thinking and the skills necessary for future success in life.
These goals support the belief that young people who experience life in different cultures will develop a more sensitive, unbiased view of the world.
The ALF web site serves as the online Virtual Classroom during all expeditions. All materials and resources found on the site are available free of charge to all schools, teachers, parents and students. The topics adhere to nationally recognized curricula standards. The expeditions combine educational projects and activities for students and provide resources for teachers designed to enhance curricula while helping all groups to utilize the Internet as an on-going, interactive, informational resource.
OBJECTIVESStudents share in the adventure and through their feedback, help map the routes and guide the explorers during the expedition. Traveling on the same routes as the locals travel allows the expedition members to immerse themselves in the cultures of the countries explored.
This approach gives students a perspective of the world they do not usually see. In addition to meeting people from many different walks of life, students visit historical sites and learn about areas of natural importance. Because local perspectives are often shaped by culture and geography, this enhances the students’ understanding of and respect for the planet as a whole.
Our objective is to share information about different people and cultures in a way that is interesting and relevant to today’s world. We hope to unite students around the world to create an atmosphere for positive change.
PROJECT DESCRIPTIONAdventure Learning Foundation conducts two Expeditions annually to exciting locations around the United States and the world. In addition to our annual Expeditions, we are preparing for an Expedition that will take the students on a journey from Morocco to Beijing. This will expose the students to many of the cultures and countries that are in the headlines almost daily. In light of the current atmosphere of fear and distrust, interacting with students from these countries will help foster communication and understanding and discourage permanent walls of distrust from being built between our cultures.
To support these Expeditions, we are converting a sponsored Mitsubishi FG 4x4 truck chassis into a custom, self-contained, satellite linked expedition vehicle that will take the explorers and their supplies around the world. As there are currently no manufacturers of expedition-type vehicles in North America, we are building this vehicle ourselves. We are asking potential sponsors to participate by providing equipment and supplies to be utilized by our explorers.
